When the husband of a woman dies, she must stay home dressed in a complet with a scarf on her head. She must not travel far and people cannot visit her late at night. She must stay in her room during prayer times. They also cannot assist baptisms, weddings or go to the mosque for 4 months and 10 days. She must stay at home so that she is not influenced by people about the timing of the prayer. I thought the woman who had lost her husband is brave because she will start back school next year.  I can only imagine what this feels like in a village where most women have not gone to school and want young girls to follow the traditions.
