Since the visit
of FFSC’s to Senegal, we have received notebooks and pencils for the students
in Dassilame Soce and Djinack Bara in October 2012. We have stayed in touch and
I will update them on the library management once we have the meeting with the director
and the teachers this month. We are still looking for funding to build bookshelves.
I am pouring over resource books on how to arrange books using library codes.
These resources
were given to me by the Peace Corps Director of Programming and Training last
June. Volunteers from different sectors have reached out on project planning
advice on library projects. We are also waiting to paint the library next
month. This will happen at the same time with the painting of the poste de
santé. I am also looking forward to receive French and English books from
another NGO which was ordered by Edens Duphrene, a SED PCV located in the north
of Senegal in the next coming months.
The school
continues to host clean-ups every last Friday of each month. It has been a
successful program since last year, along with the sept-septal in the whole
village.
